The History of Tarot from |

After centuries of being shrouded in secrecy, it is not surprising that a true and accurate history of the Tarot is difficult to document. It is also not known whether the tarot were created with any esoteric significance or whether that significance was added later. What we do know is that the first time history records them is in Italy, in the mid-15th century. The tarot were found in the upper-class homes and to the untrained eye they appeared to be very similar to a regular deck of playing cards with the exception that these cards had detailed pictures. Whatever their origin, the one undisputed fact is that the Tarot have been cherished and used by countless renowned psychics from Italy, France and England for five hundred years. The tarot became more widely accepted by psychics here in the United States in the early 1900's. For those well-versed in the Kabala, there are many similarities found between the imagery used in the Tarot and the Kabala. By chance? Perhaps. I personally have found the study of the Tarot both fascinating and endless. You cannot study the Tarot through books, as books just hold another's truth. You must study the Tarot with a good teacher or disciplined intuition. One picture does hold a thousand meanings. I have found them to be an invaluable tool in both personal growth and development for my clients, my students and myself. They are by no means a crutch to lean on but rather a silent teacher. The Tarot have proven to be a formidable vehicle for uncovering a person's most secret dreams, fears and loves. After years of practice, I have gained the utmost respect for the unknown creators of the Tarot. A psychic who is not afraid to accept the help of our Guides, our Angels and our loved ones who have passed, should not be afraid of or intimidated by using the Tarot to enhance their gifts.
